About Me

Hi, I'm Jaspreet Jawnada. A Computer Science and Business student at Wilfrid Laurier University. I enjoy solving real-world problems with code, collaborating on innovative projects, and exploring new technologies. I've worked on projects like SStarty (personalized startup movies for Steam), USecDrive (a drive encryption software), and Color-to-Grayscale (a tool for converting images). Currently seeking Summer 2025 Software Development Internships to grow and make an impact!

Why did I choose the double degree program?
I chose this double degree program to merge my passion for technology with my interest in business. From a young age, I was drawn to technology—by the time I was nine, I knew I wanted to become a software developer and create my own games.

As I grew older, I realized that technology isn’t just about writing code; it’s about the people who use it and the business that drives it. My dad, an entrepreneur, has also been a major inspiration, motivating me to follow in his footsteps and bridge the gap between innovation and business.

What are my career goals?
My goal is to become a software developer and entrepreneur. I want to create innovative software that solves real-world problems and makes a positive impact on society.

I also want to start my own tech company and build a team of talented individuals who share my passion for technology and entrepreneurship.

Projects

SStarty

SStarty is a Python tool that lets you replace Steam Big Picture's default boot-up video with your own WebM file, adding a personal touch to your gaming experience. With a simple setup and open-source flexibility, you can easily customize Steam’s startup animation in just a few steps.

USecDrive

USecDrive is a tool for encrypting and decrypting data for local or cloud storage, offering both a GUI and CLI. However, due to current bugs and instability, it is recommended to use it in a virtual machine or Docker container, and always keep a record of your encryption key in case of data recovery. Avoid using this program on your main machine to prevent potential data loss.

Color-to-Grayscale

The Black and White Converter is a Python program that transforms images into grayscale using linear algebra and computer vision techniques. It offers a simple interface where users can input an image path and set a desired resolution, with default HD settings for invalid inputs. The program processes the image and saves the grayscale version in the source folder.
